Let’s set the way back clock to 1995 (or the late 1900’s as I have heard it called…geez, do I feel old!). I had been attending San Diego Comic-Con for a couple years by then and decided to volunteer for the first time. The energy, the excitement, the laughs and the friends. I was hooked on all of it. I remember sitting in the back of the programming rooms both at the Convention Center and Golden Hall. Over the years, I’ve listened to the likes of Ray Bradbury, Stan Lee, Larry Niven, Terry Brooks and always wondered what it would be like to speak at such an event.
Fast forward to 2019 and I am asked by a dear friend to join her at a book signing pre-Con and to add my books to her booth. Knock me over with a feather! I was over the moon! My books, MY OWN BOOKS, available for purchase at San Diego Comic-Con.
*Cue a worldwide pandemic and two years of exile*
Now, in 2022, I am speaking on a panel. After years of introducing panelists and setting up name placards, I will have one of my very own. To say that I am experiencing a range of emotions would be an understatement. I am excited by the prospect of speaking to so many new potential readers, nervous about worst-case-scenario of no one showing up, yet apprehensive about tripping over my tongue. So all in all, I’d say I’m cautiously optimistic. I have wonderful people who will be on the panel with me and I personally can’t wait to hear the conversations we’ll have.

Content creation, publication, and marketing can be daunting. Host April Wahlin (author, Pandora Syndrome; actor; winner of Search for The Next Elvira) moderates panelists Tessa McFionn (novelist, A Curse of Forever, A Divine’s Retribution), Jessica Maison (author and comics publisher, Wicked Tree Press, Plastic Girl Trilogy, Pistil), and Sam Boxleitner and Lee Boxleitner (screenwriters, Downstairs, Rupert) in this informal writing workshop with Q&A.
